Amien Rais also made a strong criticism of the statement by the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership Board, Anwar Abbas, regarding Muhammadiyah accepting management of the mine.
“I was shocked and angry when I read the news from PP Muhammadiyah, whose most active mouthpiece is Anwar Abbas, that Muhammadiyah had finally accepted Jokowi’s offer, who will be stepping down in three months,” Amien Rais was quoted as saying. SINDOnews on the Amien Rais Official YouTube account, Saturday (27/7/2024).
The MPR chairman for the 1999-2004 period emphasized that the offer to manage the coal mine was an offer full of poison and venom.
“Initially, the offer to obtain a coal mining management permit was like a poisonous hook that Muhammadiyah avoided. However, because they were attracted to worldly things, Muhammadiyah finally swallowed the dangerous hook,” he stressed.
However, Amien Rais said, the offer received by Muhammadiyah can still be vomited back. Amien explained that Anwar Abbas’ argument that Muhammadiyah would become a mining player that would not damage the environment was a joke that insulted common sense.
“Why? Mining anywhere will definitely damage the environment to the point of destroying the environment that cannot be restored. Moreover, the mining world is a cruel world, and some of the players are bandits without morals,” he stressed.
Amien emphasized that PP Muhammadiyah should immediately hold a tanwir meeting. So the tanwir meeting is the highest institution after the Muhammadiyah congress.
“If the congress is too heavy and the time is too short. Invite all the heads and autonomous heads, I am sure that after the tanwir session, Muhammadiyah’s acceptance of the mining will be revoked,” he concluded.
