According to information provided by the National Institute for Research and Development of Physics of the Earth, the seismic event occurred at 23:46 local time, which corresponds to 01:46 Astana time.
“The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Banat seismic zone in Arad County, at a depth of five kilometers. This area is located near the South Carpathian Mountains, which makes it susceptible to seismic activity,” the institute said in a statement.
