Last night in Ambodimita was the scene of a serious accident involving a cart and a 4×4 vehicle. Around midnight on Sunday, the 4×4 violently hit the cart, throwing it off the road and ending up in a nearby rice field. The collision left two individuals seriously injured, both occupants of the cart at the time of the accident. Fortunately, the three occupants of the 4×4 escaped this incident unharmed.
Emergency services were quickly rushed to the scene, and the two injured people were rushed to the nearest hospital. At the same time, the police took charge of the occupants of the 4×4 to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
This is unfortunately not the only incident of the week in Ambodimita. Just last week, another 4×4 vehicle veered off the road on the Antsofinondry embankment, ending up in a similar rice field. These accidents are not isolated, and the capital as well as national roads are experiencing a worrying series of incidents.
Again on Sunday, a taxi-be was involved in a collision with a crazy truck. Thirteen people were injured in the accident, and all were rushed to hospital. The driver of the truck, allegedly responsible for the accident, is currently in police custody.
Faced with this alarming increase in accidents, law enforcement is intensifying their awareness-raising efforts. The gendarmerie has launched information campaigns targeted at two-wheeler users, emphasizing compliance with driving rules, the regularization of motorcycle documents, and above all the prevention of drunk driving.
These preventive actions are crucial in a period where road safety is becoming a major concern. Local authorities are actively working to reduce the number of accidents and raise awareness of the importance of caution on the roads. Vigilance and respect for driving rules remain essential to prevent future tragedies in the region.
