(CRHoy.com) A total of 499,288 people are already protected with the vaccine seasonal flu, according to data from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) with a cutoff of the previous June 19.

According to institutional information, this represents an advance of the 33.3% in vaccination coverage with these annual doses to avoid health complications from infection with influenza viruses.

This is precisely why the Caja’s doctors urge the population to visit health centers to receive this biological.

“This vaccine is super important to avoid complications in case of getting sick with the virus influenza seasonal. Remember that we are waiting for you throughout the country in the health establishments of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund,” said Diana Paniagua Hidalgo, from Epidemiological Surveillance of the CCSS.

It should be remembered that at the beginning of this year, the National Commission for Vaccination and Epidemiology (CNVE) determined the groups in which the vaccine should be applied. For example, children 6 months to less than 7 years regardless of risk factors; as well as adults 58 and over.

Also pregnant, regardless of gestational age; and the population from 7 to 57 years old with the presence of some chronic disease, among others.

Of the total number of vaccines already administered, in the population under 7 years of age, 58,851 dose. In those between 7 and 57 years of age, with the presence of some chronic disease, they already became 177,066.

Besides, 14,397 Pregnant women already have protection against viruses. Added to 216,791 injections given to adults 58 and over.

“It should be remembered that, in the case of the child population, parents or guardians must present the blue vaccine booklet; and in the case of adults, some identification and vaccination card must be presented, if you have it, ”recalled the official.
